Concerned about sensitive or bleeding gums?
Dr. Shvarts and her team of dental hygienists have established an exceptional periodontal program that has helped patients maintain healthy bone levels and avoid tooth loss.
At your standard check-up appointments, your dental hygienist will perform a prophylaxis (Prophy) removing plaque and tartar around the gum line of all of your teeth. Yearly, your hygienist will take diagnostic measurements and do a thorough gum exam to detect any signs of gum disease.
If gum disease is detected and diagnosed scaling and root planning (SRP) may be performed at the office. This procedure is a "deep-cleaning." SRP is a non-surgical procedure to remove tartar below the gum line to restore your gums back to health. Following this procedure, the patient will come in every 3 months for maintenance procedures to keep their gums healthy.
For some, SRP is all that is needed to get control of their gum disease. For others, surgical intervention is necessary. Dr. Shvarts refers to some of the best periodontists in the area, working closely with them as a team staying in communication to make sure you receive the best care possible.
